Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 2 (ANI): Newly elected Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan asserted that the party's double-engine government is committed to making decisions in the best interests of the people.
Ravindra Chavan formally assumed charge as the new state president on Tuesday.
'The double-engine government of the BJP is taking decisions in the best interests of the people,' he told media persons on Tuesday after being elected as the party president.
Reflecting on his journey in the party, he added, 'BJP is the party of the workers... Today, a normal worker of the party has been elected the Maharashtra president of the Bharatiya Janata Party.'
Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the party under the leadership of Ravindra Chavan will win all the upcoming elections in the state.
'BJP leader Ravindra Chavan elected as Maharashtra president of the Bharatiya Janata Party...The BJP, under the leadership of Ravindra Chavan, will win all the upcoming elections in Maharashtra,' Bawankule said, noting that the party's state unit is committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve of Viksit Bharat.
This development comes as the BJP continues to hold internal elections across various state units to restructure its organisational framework ahead of the election of the national president.
Earlier in the day, BJP leader N Ramchander Rao on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the party's senior leadership following his appointment as the President of the Telangana BJP state unit.
Rao expressed his gratitude to the party's national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and BL Santhosh, for entrusting him with the responsibility.
'Today, my name has been officially announced as the unopposed president of the BJP for Telangana... I thank PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, BL Santhosh and all our national leaders. I also thank our state leaders, G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay...for giving me this opportunity to serve the people of Telangana and also the party in Telangana,' Rao told ANI on Tuesday.
Rao highlighted his pride in being part of the world's largest party, with around 14 crore members. 'I am very proud that today I have been elected for this post for the very simple reason that I am heading a party which has got around 14 crore members and is the world's largest party,' he added.
The newly elected president assured the party leadership that the BJP will strive to come to power in Telangana in 2028. 'I assure our leadership that we will strive to bring the BJP to power in Telangana in 2028. People here are already fed up with the Congress party; we have already tested BRS and people want the BJP to come to power here. I will strive in this direction.' Rao said.
On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed N Ramchander Rao as the President of the Telangana State Unit, succeeding Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.
Within the BJP, Rao has held several key positions, including BJYM Secretary, City Unit Vice President, State Convenor of the Legal Cell, National Legal Cell Member, State General Secretary, and Official Party Spokesperson. (ANI)
